British Dressage at Speedgate

Wednesday 22nd October 2025

What a lovely day we had at our British Dressage competition on the 22nd October! The atmosphere was relaxed, the horses were on form, and it was fantastic to see a mix of familiar faces and new combinations out and about.

A special shoutout goes to Gemma Catling, who has been putting in some brilliant work with her green horse. Despite having very little experience in busy warm-up arenas, he handled the day like a pro! It was a great learning curve for him, and he took it all in his stride—such a promising partnership in the making.

Jayne Hill and Teddy had a great morning too. It’s been a while since they’ve been in the competition ring, but they didn’t let that hold them back—taking home a well-deserved 1st place in Prelim 5 with 63.10%. What a lovely way to return to competing!

Kate Matthews and Indigo King of Hearts were another duo making a return after some time off. They had a brilliant first outing back, posting an impressive 68.17% in Novice 5 and 65.16% in Novice 6. Those are scores to be proud of—welcome back, Kate!

It was also a great day for Elisabeth Swan, who was out competing with her much-loved Furst Hit—a horse she’s owned since he was a foal. After facing her fair share of challenges over the years, it was lovely to see them enjoying their time in the ring. They posted a brilliant 70.17% in Novice 5 —well done both!

In the Medium classes, Tina Hillman-Green and Blakeney Night really wowed the judges, scoring a brilliant 72.07% in Medium 3 and 70.67% in Medium 5. Such consistency and quality—we loved watching them ride.

Emily Nicol and Adamo Cavaliere also had a day to remember, delivering two fantastic tests. They scored an impressive 72.73% in Elementary 6 and 70.33% in Medium 5 – What a great day for this talented combination.

And finally, huge congratulations to Rosa Grad on Breitling Star, who tackled their first ever Medium test. Not only did they achieve a fantastic 69.31%, but they also received some really encouraging and constructive comments from the judges. A great milestone to tick off!

We’re already looking forward to seeing you at our upcoming BD dates—join us on 12th and 22nd November and 3rd and 7th December. Whether you’re riding or cheering on from the sidelines, everyone’s welcome!
