Fly Protection

How can you help protect your horse?

Flies are common pests whose persistent biting can create a whole wealth of issues for our horses, not to mention the irritation they cause. However, fly control is not easy, but there are a variety of ways to help relieve the issue.

Rugs

It features Horseware’s Surefit neck design with ‘V’ front closure, as well as leg arches and a third surcingle for added coverage without compromising on freedom of movement. The silky mane and shoulder liner helps prevent any rubbing, and the integral hood complete with ear holes and a supersize tail flap, as well as extra depth offer added protection.

The neck cover and large tail flap provide optimum protection.

Fly Masks

Horseware Rambo Fly Mask Plus

The Horseware Rambo fly mask features a reinforced band to keep the material away from your horse’s eyes. It has large fitting soft ears and is made from extremely durable material. The fleece is treated with Vamoose to deter fly entry under the mask, and the detachable nose cover shades the horse from harmful UV rays and helps deter flies from irritating this sensitive area. It is especially useful for lighter coloured noses that are sensitive to sunburn.

Shires Zebra Print Fly Mask

Studies have shown that zebra stripes are incredibly unappealing to horseflies, and so Shires developed a zebra printed fly mask to utilise this theory. Ergonomic shaping and fleece padding along the seams keeps the fly mask away from the eyes and reduces gaps. Adjustable touch close safety straps allow for a snug fit. Try the matching Shires Zebra Fly Rug for full head to toe protection!

Hy Fly Fringe

A fly fringe is perfect for horses that are not a fan of a full mask or have sensitive ears, and for use in the evenings so that it cannot interfere with your horse’s vision. The hook and loop fastenings easily attach to the head collar, and are fully adjustable for the perfect fit. Try the Hy Free Fly Fringe for a fringe that does not require attachment to a headcollar.
