May Events at Speedgate

Sunday 1st May, saw the first of our show jumping events of 2022. It was lovely to see lots of new competitors visiting us for the first time. Woody Fowles and Grivarder Real Deal were our first combination in the mini class to reach the jump off. The pair were having a very good round, but unfortunately faulted at the very last fence.

Our next show jumping event is Saturday 25th June.

During the month of May we have had some great days of unaffiliated and affiliated dressage competitions. As always it is lovely to see regular and new faces heading down the centre line. We have continued with live scoring, at all the shows, through our on-line entry system, Horse Monkey. This means that all the competitors can see all the scores of the class, as they are completed.

Riders are all aiming to get those final points that they need, ready for the Summer Area Festivals and Summer Regional shows.

Saturday 28th May saw our final event of the month, Unaffiliated Team Dressage. This is always a fun day, and it is lovely to see everyone supporting each other. Teams can either dress competitively or they can choose to wear team colours.

We had six teams coming forward for the day, and we got the day started with the Intro C test. Jenny Evans got the day underway and finished on a score of 61.96% and that got the Speedgate Super Blue team off to a good start.

Joshua Wyles was next up for the White House team and he and Argo had a lovely time doing their test, while being led by Sophie.

At the end of the Intro class, five of the six teams had scores on the board. The prelim section of the day, saw the larger number of entries. Gail Le Milliere started the class off, with her lovely spotted horse, Annaghmoore Boom Lightyear. The standard of riding was once again very good, and the scores were all quite close. At the end of the Prelim class, all the teams were off the starting block.

The last of our team riders, rode either a Novice or an Elementary test. In the Novice 23 section of the competition, Stacey Ward and the lovely Dali High Hopes produced a wonderful test to gain a score of 70.83%

Once all the tests were in, it was time to declare the winners. There was just 3.19 points in between the first and second placings. Our winning team with a final score of 201.59, was team Bottoms Up, who comprised of Kellie Eglinton, Kerry Stanley, Stacey Mcdaid and Alison Prountzos.

1st – Bottoms Up – Kellie Eglinton, Kerry Stanley, Stacey Mcdaid and Alison Prountzos – 201.59

2nd – Pick & Mix Ponies – Rosie Pease, Lisa Swinden, Shirley Stewart and Kirsty Pearce – 198.40

3rd – Walk, Trot and Banter – Lauren Bennett, Hayley Whisker and Stacey Ward – 197.43

4th – Speedgate Super Blues – Jenny Evans, Carole Davies, Catherine Fleet and Louise Prideaux – 195.87

5th – White House – Joshua Wyles, Sophia Kell, Emily Stedman and Sophie Wyles – 194.33

Thank you to everyone that has come and competed and supported the shows over the last few weeks. Congratulations once again to all our deserving winners.

We look forward to hopefully seeing you all competing with us over the coming months.
