For You

Safety First

Your hat must meet the current standards and be fitted correctly. A skull hat with plain silk and body protector must be worn for cross country lessons. Our trained members of staff can check the fit of your safety equipment, or assist you with a new purchase.

Boots

You will need jodhpur boots with chaps or clips for riding in, as well as suitable footwear for around the yard. These should be plain black or brown with strong soles and toe coverage. Also remember to pack lots of socks depending on what footwear you have to keep you comfy all day.

Yard Wear

Chaps or overtrousers with a fleece are a good idea for mucking out in and wearing around the yard to keep your riding wear clean. You may also want to take a waterproof coat so you are fully prepared, whatever the weather, and don’t forget your casual clothes to change into too!

Riding Wear

Cream or beige jodhpurs must be worn, with a long sleeved shirtPony Club tie, and Pony Club sweatshirt. You will also need a black, navy or tweed hacking jacket for competition day, and don’t forget your gloves and whip if you need one!

For Your Pony

Grooming Kit

You will need a full grooming kit to take with you to camp, but make sure you label everything to avoid brushes getting mixed up! You may also want to take a good fly spray to keep those pesky bugs away from your pony so that he can enjoy the activities as much as you.

Lightweight Rug

It is a good idea to take a lightweight rug with you, as we all know how the Great British weather can change in an instant! Ponies that are not being turned out whilst at camp may appreciate a light sheet if the weather turns chilly.

Tack & Boots

Remember to take all of your tack, including your saddle, bridlegirth, and martingale/breastplate (if required). You will also need a couple of plain numnahs, as well as a head collar and lead rope. If your pony wears boots you will need to pack these too.

Stable Equipment

You will need haynets and buckets, as well as mucking out equipment for the week, and don’t forget your pony’s feedhay and bedding too. You should also take a set of polo bandages and your tack cleaning equipment for your stable management lessons.

The final things to remember are your Pony Club Manual, and a notebook and pen for all the new things you will learn whilst at camp. Now you are all set, enjoy your week!
