Quest Regional Finals

October 2021

Saturday 9th October saw the first of two days competition at Speedgate, for the Saracen Horse Feeds Quest Regional Finals.

The first day was for the Open My Quest and Open Team Quest competitions, and with a tremendous number of entries, there was going to be a full day of competition. As always it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces, and equally great to meet so many new riders.

Our first victory of the day went to Jade Philbin and the very smart Harley V in the Open Intro class. With a fabulous final score of 73.37%, it certainly was a very worthy win. Second place went to Jenny Bourne and her lovely grey Breeze, who finished on a score of 71.09%.

Whilst the team event competition was continuing in the other arena, we continued with the Open Prelim class. This was a huge class, and the standard of riding was very good.

With another brilliant score of 72.98% in this class, our second winner of the day was Lois Seymour riding her own horse Harley V, who had previously won the first class. Just narrowly missing out on the top spot was Chloe Tuite and the striking Caper. This duo finished on a score of 72.50%, so taking a very deserving second place.

Our final My Quest class of the day was the Open Novice, and again there were good numbers coming forward to compete. Towards the end of the class was the turn of Lois Seymour and this time she was riding her other horse, Diorissimo. This combination finished on a score of 72.02%, and with the difference of just 0.1% between the top two riders, Lois took her second victory of the day. With a brilliant score of 71.92%, second place went to Joseph Payne and Fierappel Van “T” Ringboomhaf.

Meanwhile, the Team competition was equally producing some incredible scores. With thirteen teams coming forward throughout the day, there was a lot to play for. Once all the scores had been checked and inputted, we were ready to announce our Open Team Quest winners. With the difference in the final totals of the top two teams only being 1.38, it was so incredibly close. But our victorious team of the day with a final score of 212.62, was team Hold Your Horses, who consisted of Michelle Woods, Mary Kendall, Katrina Abbott. Congratulations to all of you.

Sunday was the turn of the U21’s competitions and although the entries were not as large as the day before, our riders were just as hungry for a good day’s competition. In the U21 Intro class, it was Lola Rega riding the striking grey, Amy 13, who gained a phenomenal score of 76.30% to become our first winner of the day. The very smart combination of Lauren Scott and Mia took second place with an equally great score of 69.02%.

The Prelim class was to follow and again the standard of riding was very good, and the scores were all very close with just 0.5 difference in the final totals between the top two placings. It was Jemima Brown and the very handsome Lacy Milan who took victory with a score of 69.04%, narrowly beating Red Robinson and Harry, who took second place with a score of 68.94%.

Jemima and Lacy Milan were not going to settle for just one victory for the day, and stormed home in the Novice class with a score of 68.85%, to take a second winning place of the day. Faith Claydon and the lovely chestnut, Owlett Wolkengano gained second place by finishing on a score of 67.79%.

Back to the action in the U21’s Team event, and once again there was some brilliant riding being produced and scores to show for it. Once all the team riders had come forward, it was time for them to wait for the final scores to be added and the victorious team to be announced. Our U21’s Team Quest winners with a final score of 203.23, where the WKD Rascals, who consisted of Lucinda Jenkins- Price, Jemima Brown, Lennon Healy and Rebecca Aston.

Congratulations to all our deserving prize winners throughout the two days of competition. Our top two riders in each of the My Quest and U21 My Quest classes, and our winning Open Team Quest and U21 Team Quest combinations have all qualified for the National Championships and we wish you all the very best of luck.

There will be wildcards for the Nationals, so we will keep everything crossed that you are lucky enough to receive one.

Thank you to everyone that came to compete and support the event.
