Speedgate’s Final Unaffiliated Show Jumping 2023

Sunday 15th October was our final unaffiliated show jumping show of the season. Although it was a bit chilly, the sun was shining for the day’s competition.

Once again it was lovely to see new and familiar faces coming forward to jump. We pride ourselves on being an encouraging show, to help build the confidence of our riders. Whether it’s their first competition or that they have just lost their way a bit, we take the time to make sure that the rider comes away with a positive experience.

After the clear rounds were over we moved onto the first class of the day, the mini class. Our first rider was Amie Morris with the very attractive coloured, Willow Vinchezo. This combination delivered the first double clear of the day in a good time. More double clears followed and with only 2.29 seconds between first and second place, but it was Nicola Whiteman that took the first victory of the day on her lovely coloured horse, Zero.

5th           Amie Morris and Willow Vinchezo

6th           Viv Howie and EFS Khamsin Eclipse

Our next class was the Novice and the first double clear was delivered by Chloe Sutton and the lovely grey, Darcy. This combination has come on in leaps and bounds this season. Sienna Bruniges and the cheeky Teddy were our next duo to achieve a double clear. This pair are very new to showjumping and have been taking it all in their stride and with a time that was 0.15 seconds faster than Bethany Bel and Secret, they became our second winners of the day.

1st           Sienna Brungies and Teddy

2nd          Bethnay Bell and Secret

3rd           Chloe Sutton and Darcy

4th           Betsy Harris and Hardy

The Intermediate class followed and again we had good entries. The skinny fence on the earlier part of the course was proving to be a little troublesome for some of our competitors, allowing only three combinations through to the jump off. It was Vicky Pearce and the very striking, Burnford Dolton who delivered a very quick and accurate jump off round to gain the third victory of the day.

Finally we were on to the Small Open class, and from the four starters only one combination got through to the jump off.  Stacey Davison and Oddie secured another double clear and the final victory of the day. That concluded our 2023 show jumping rounds.

Thank you to everyone who has competed with us this season. Congratulations to all our deserving winners.

This year, it has been a pleasure to once again have met so many lovely people and their horses. Some of our riders have come to our shows very nervous and lacking confidence. It has been wonderful to have had the privilege to support them and watch them grow in confidence.

We had a selection of riders that really did work tremendously hard to achieve their goals this year, and these riders were all awarded with our “Speedgate Achiever Award” rosettes. Congratulations to all of you for working so hard. Keep up the great work and continue to enjoy your jumping and competitions.
