Speedgate’s Team Quest and Unaffiliated Dressage

Saturday 13th April 2024

Spring finally started to make an appearance and the sun was shining bright for our day of Team Quest and Unaffiliated Dressage competitions.

Once again, we had the opportunity to catch up with familiar faces as well as meet some new riders who were coming to compete at Speedgate for the first time.

The day started with some of the My Quest tests, and it was Isabella Powley who was our first rider to head down the centre line. She rode a lovely test with her stunning pony, Priestwood Ziggy Stardust, to finish with a score of 63.70%.

Team Quest had four teams coming forward and Tim Fisher was the first of the team riders to head down the centre line for Team Oakenden.

MJA Equine had a very strong start to their team day, with Summer Aspel gaining their first score of the day. The next rider to follow Summer was her fellow team member, Tabitha Howell, who not only delivered a fantastic test, but also was the first rider of the day to break the 70.00% barrier.

Lexi Reeves was the first team rider for the Fillies on Top, and got them off to a good start, with a great score of 62.88%.

It was a first time visit to Speedgate for The Diamond Collection team. Lorraine Moon and Cynheidrefawr Drefawr Dusky Dafydd, were the first of their riders and they delivered a very nice test to finish on a very respectable score of 64.81%.

The novice test section of the team event followed on and each team had at least one combination taking part. First to go was Cydney Gilbert and the very smart Quel Surprise who completed their test with a score of 65.00%.

Our final combination of the team section was our side saddle rider, Harriet Mitchell. Harriet and the lovely MIH Dunbeggan Freckles delivered a lovely test for a great score of 70.89%.

With all the team riders having completed their tests, it was MJA Equine who became our winning team of the day.

1st MJA Equine – 205.73

2nd The Diamond Collection – 197.24

3rd Fillies on Top – 190.20

4th Team Oakenden – 182.52

The Unaffiliated Dressage followed on after the Quest competition had finished and although entries were a little quiet, it was good to see some very strong combinations heading down the centre line. All our Unaffiliated Dressage competitions are qualifiers for the Sunshine Tour that is taking place in September.

Thank you to everyone who came to compete and support the show. Congratulations to all our deserving winners. Our next Team Quest and Unaffiliated show is being held on Sunday 26th May, and we look forward to hopefully seeing you all there.
