Sunday 23rd May 2021
The second of our show jumping shows for this season was held on Sunday 23rd May. The weather was going to be a little temperamental, but it was not going to deter any of our competitors. As always it was lovely to see regular faces, as well as new ones coming to compete with us for the first time.
With Covid-19 restrictions now being eased, it was nice to have a few spectators coming to support their friends and family again. All entries remain being made online, and so all our competitors are allocated a jumping time for each of their rounds.
Our new Speedgate branded show jump made it’s debut appearance, and it certainly did keep a few of our combinations on their toes!
The first class of the day was the Mini class and our first combination to go was Kristi Hayhurst and her lovely mare Lakota. This combination produced the first double clear of the day and did enough to be our first winners of the day. Double clears were also achieved by Aimme Doutch and Mae Phillips in this class.
Mini Class
1st Kristi Hayhurst and Lakota
2nd Aimee Doutch and Med Night Dakota
3rd Mae Phillips and Lola
4th Lauren Bennett and Claramore First Prince
The Novice class was the second class of the day to get underway. The first of our double clears came from a new combination to compete with us. Hanna Taylor and her lovely Moyralla Dancer executed a lovely round and did enough to be deserving winners. Anna Marie Jeffrey also achieved a double clear in this class.
Novice Class
1st Hanna Taylor and Moyralla Dancer
2nd Anna Marie Jeffrey and Quidditch de Louzes
3rd Aimee Simmonds and Keelogs Boy
With three more classes to go, we got the Intermediate class started and our first double clear was produced by Emily Mcdowell and Coolodge Sonny. This pairing had to now sit and wait for the class to complete before they knew that they had done enough to take the third victory of the day. Our other double clear was produced by Anna Marie Jeffrey, who with Quidditch de Louzes took their second placing of the day.
Intermediate Class
1st Emily Mcdowell and Coolodge Sonny
2nd Anna Marie Jeffrey and Quidditch de Louzes
3rd Paige Paskell and Ruperts Ready
4th Hilary Fox and Broadriver Artemis
Both Open classes were sadly not as well subscribed. In the Small Open the only double clear was from Paige Paskell and Ruperts Ready, so becoming our winners. In the Open class, Sophie unfortunately had the second to last fence down in the jump off, to finish on four faults.
Small Open
1st Paige Paskell and Ruperts eady
2nd Sophie Simmonds and Melrose Silver
Open Class
1st Sophie Simmonds and Melrose Silver
Congratulations once again to all our deserving winners of the day. Thank you to everyone that came and supported. We look forward to hopefully seeing you all again soon. Our next unaffiliated show jumping show is being held on Sunday 6th June. All entries can be made online via Horse Monkey. Please enter early to avoid disappointment.
