Speedgate’s Unaffiliated Show Jumping Results

Sunday 6th September 2020

The second of our show jumping shows for this season was held on Sunday 9th September. The weather was kind to us and once again we had an incredible amount of pre-entries. As always it was lovely to see regular faces, as well as new ones coming to compete with us for the first time.

With Covid-19 restrictions still in place at all our events, this means that for the moment spectators are not permitted on to the showground. All entries are made online, and so all our competitors are allocated a jumping time for each of their rounds.

The first class of the day was the Starter class. After a few four fault rounds, our first double clear of the day came from Connor Searles and his ride, Norwood Lane. This round was going to be good enough to eventually take second place. Our winning round came shortly afterwards from Aimee Simmonds and her ride, Keelogs Boy, who took the first victory of the day by 3.76 seconds.

With the course walk for the next class completed, we got the second class of the day underway. The first of our double clears came from our previous class winner, Aimme Simmonds and Keelogs Boy. More double clears followed as the class progressed, with the leader board changing all the time. Ella Bayliss and her horse, Rhydsarn Roulette, held the lead for a while with a super quick round. Towards the end of the class was the turn of Ruby Sumner and her ride Silverado. This combination produced a super double clear and came home 0.30 seconds faster than Ella to take the lead. After waiting for a further five riders to jump, they were declared the winners of the Novice class.

We kicked the afternoon off with the Intermediate class, and it was Kiyah Buist and her horse Kinsky Lucky Lass that gave us our first double clear of the class. This combination held on to the top spot for most of the class. With more double clears coming throughout the class, it was proving that you needed to be accurate and quick if you were going to try and catch Kiyah’s time. As the class progressed it finally became the turn of Grace Wilkinson and her ride, My Silver Snowflake. This combination produced a cracking and quick double clear, beating Kiyah’s time by 1.08 seconds and in doing so taking the top spot in the Intermediate class.

Our fifth class of the day was the Small Open and again, this class was very well subscribed. The first to go was Lisa Swinden and her horse Daddys Newtown Boy. This pair delivered the first double clear of the class, and they did enough to eventually take third place. As the class progressed it became the turn of Georgina Lewis and her horse, Be Reem.
