Sunday 21st July 2019
We had a fantastic turnout for our Show Jumping on Sunday 21st July, and it was great to see so many of you, regular and new coming forward to compete. The sun was out, so we were all set for a great day of competition. Riders were still able to qualify for the Sunshine Tour that is due to be held at Hickstead in September.
Pippa Lawrence got the days competition under way in the Intro class with her ride, Captain. Although they jumped a lovely first round, they sadly had two poles down in the jump off, but it was still good enough to take 5th place in the class. Our first double clear of the day was produced by Kizi Gallan riding Amber, but her lead was sadly short lived as Chloe-Louise Money riding the ever consistent Star, produced a very fast double clear to take the first victory of the day.
Intro Class
1st Chloe-Louise Money and Star
2nd Kizi Gallan and Amber
3rd Hilary Fox and Broad River Artemis
4th Archie Shepherd and Turbo
5th Pippa Lawrence and Captain
There were lots of double clears produced in the Novice class, so accuracy and speed were going to be the key to winning the class. Our first double clear to be produced in under 30 seconds was by Kenzy Fairman with her ride, My Destiny’s Pride. This pair held on to the lead for the rest of the class to take the Novice victory by just 0.16 seconds.

The afternoon got underway with the Intermediate class, and with 11 double clears produced throughout the class, it was once again all about accuracy and timing. Half way through the class it was the turn of Grace McCarthy and her horse Spirit. They produced a great double clear in a time of 30.03 seconds, and it looked as if they were going to be our winners. But it was second to last rider of the class, Alexa Rule and her lovely horse Eddie, who produced a cracking double clear to come home 2.07 seconds faster and take the third victory of the day.

1st Alexa Rule and Eddie

The next class of the day was the Small Open class, and once again Grace McCarthy produced another great double clear to take an early lead. With further double clears being produced, no one could quite get close enough to Grace’s time. Towards the very end of the class was the turn of Maggie Richardson and her gorgeous horse, Black Beauty. This combination not only produced a very stylish double clear but did so in a time that was going to put them in the lead by 0.65 seconds, and for them to take the fourth victory of the day.
