Our first team event of the year saw ten teams come forward for a day of dressage. As always it was good to see some of our regular teams, as well as some new ones.
Our first test of the day was Intro C and it was Nicky Collins from Team Oakenden that got the days competition underway. Finishing with a respectable score of 64.35%, Nicky and Castlehill Lad got their team off to a good start. By the end of the first class, six of the teams had now got their first set of scores.
Prelim 14 was to follow and with twenty riders due to come forward, it meant that all the teams would now be gaining those crucial scores. Our sponsored rider, Mia Kirby and her lovely horse Castlewoods Taloulah, rode a nicely executed test to finish with a score of 69.42%. This score was certainly going to help put her team into a good position.
Julie Sinclair and her horse Dixie were our first combination in the Novice 24 class. This was their second test of the day and having scored 67.69% in the previous class for team CBRC Curlies, they delivered another great score of 65.43% for team CBRC Chomps. Chloe Penfold and Frank were our other rider for the day riding two tests. In the previous class they had a respectful score of 63.91% for team CBRC Crunchies. In the elementary class they finished on a score of 64.00% for team CBRC Curlies.
Two riders in the elementary class were left to complete our day of competition. Kim Beattie and Scallywag UK were the first to go and this combination finished on a score of 62.20% and so team Speedgate Specials scores were now complete. Now with all the scores in, it was time to finish all the adding up. With a fantastic finishing score of 205.94, it was Team Beeches that were crowned our winners! The team was made up of Mia Kirby, Mark Boxall, Alexandra Woodward and Serena Kidd.
