Seven teams came forward for our second Unaffiliated Team Dressage event of the year. The day got underway with the Intro C class, and it was Carole Davies and the handsome Rock Star who were our first combination to head down the centre line. They finished their test on a score of 65.22%, so it was a good start for the “Shades of Blue” team.
At the end of the Intro C class, five of the seven teams already had scores on the board. The Prelim 18 class was to follow, and it was a rather large section of the competition, with sixteen combinations coming forward.
Katie Lord and Flecknoe Miss Money Penny were the first combination to head down the centre line in this class and with a score of 66.35%, they got the “Smiths Farm Mojitos” team on the scoreboard and off to a great start.
Just before the break, it was the turn of Isabel Fry and Betsy. Riding for the “Smiths Farm Jägermeister” team, they completed their test to finish on an incredible score of 73.65%, which became the highest score over the whole day of competition.
At the end of the Prelim class, all seven teams had scores on the scoreboard. Three of the teams had all their riders complete their tests and there were just four teams needing their final tests to be ridden and scores counted. It was all looking very close at the top.
Kay Jenman and Digger were riding for two teams and their first test, the Novice 24, was for the “Smiths Farm Jägermeister” team. They completed their test with a score of 68.91% and that was the final score for this team. They rode their second test, the Novice 28, for the “Smiths Farm Tequilla Sunrise” team and completed on a final score of 70.83%, leaving just one more test to be ridden.
The final test of the day was ridden by Dionne Chapman and the lovely Charlie. They headed down the centre line to gain a brilliant score of 67.34% for the “Charlie’s Angels” team in the Elementary 42 test.
Now all the scores needed to be verified and everyone gathered around waiting for the announcement of the placings. There was just 0.63% between the third and second placings and just 0.47% between the top two places.

7th Smith’s Farm Mojitos 188.85 (Charlotte Crompton, Katie Lord, Beau Bruce)
