Speedgate’s Winter Woolies In-Hand Show

Sunday 28th April 2024

Spring had certainly gone back into hiding for our annual Winter Woolies In-Hand show. With heavy rain over night and into the morning, we were faced with freezing temperatures and strong winds.

With a nice range of classes, it is an ideal environment for people and horses to have their first taste of In-Hand showing. We had an incredible number of entries over the two rings, and everyone arrived with smiles and determination for the weather not to deter them from having a great day of competition. Even with the conditions being so horrid, everyone had made such an effort to have their horses and ponies tuned out to a very good standard.

Our first class of the day was the Mountain and Moorland, Pure and Part-bred which had a high standard of combinations coming forward. It was the very smart, Talyllyn Elain, handled by Louise Ford, who became out first winners of the day.

Our second ring had also got underway with their first class of the day, the Veteran Horse or Pony. With four combinations coming forward, after all had been judged, it was the lovely Llynhelyg Captain Morgan and Marika Thormann who took the top placing.

The day continued with lots of full classes and everyone supporting all of those that were competing. It was lovely to see some regular faces, but it was also wonderful to meet people that were competing with us for the very first time.

This event was a Sunshine Tour qualifier, and all of those who were placed 1st – 4th will have gained their qualification. For further information on the classes that are eligible for qualification and what to do next, please follow the link below.

A huge thank you to everyone who came to compete and to those that supported the show. A further thanks goes to our wonderful judges and team of helpers, who also braved the elements to help deliver another great show. None of this is possible without all your tremendous efforts.

Well done to everyone and congratulations to all our worthy winners. Our next showing show is being held on Sunday 28th July 2024.
